Quote of the day:
"An optimist stays up to see the New Year in. A pessimist waits to make sure the old one leaves."
~ Bill Vaughan - American columnist and author

Three pieces of news for today:

For the first time in 15 years, PBS is working a full day on New Year's Eve instead of closing at 2PM.  We base our closing on Lafayette FCU's hours as they provide our HR, and they are working a full day, so we are too.

My cleaning lady decided that she was working today and showed up unexpectedly, bearing chai and breakfast from Starbucks.  I thought she would come next week, and greeted her with delight.  How nice that my place will be clean for the new year!

And I just found out that I have a permanent garage spot!  Someone else will be subletting the existing spot I have been using and I moved to my new spot.

Usually I spend my New Year's Eve in front of my computer and in world, dancing and celebrating the new year as it comes in over the different time zones, and singing Auld Lang Syne many times.  This year the management company where I moved is hosting a party in the community room downstairs, and I plan to be there when it starts at 9 PM with a platter of cookies to share and my ice wine to drink, so we'll see how that goes.  After all, I can always come back upstairs and log in if I feel too much like a fifth wheel, neh?

However you chose to bring 2024 to a close, I wish you well, and continue to hope that 2025 will be kind to us all.
