Quote of the day:
" If you can't describe what you are doing as a process, you don' know what you are doing."
~  W Edwards Deming - American business theorist, composer, economist, industrial engineer, management consultant, statistician, and writer.

Back in 1995, I was tasked with finding out what Judy, who had been with C&F Bank for over 20 years and was retiring, actually knew about our customers.  It was an impossible task, because I didn't know what questions to ask, and Judy herself couldn't tell me what she knew because some of it she hadn't really thought about.  So I went online, googled "how do I know what I don't know" and was plunged in the world of knowledge management and organizational development.  Deming was one of my first reads, and I have always espoused his view that workers want to do good work and it is a manager's job to see to it that they can.

< just pretend there was a smooth segue here>

As usually happens after a long holiday weekend, the shortened work week seems very long indeed, and has consisted of a remarkable number of Mondays.  Corrupted spreadsheets, demands for new reports, questions from auditors and regulators, and people on vacation have all impacted the past four days.

The Walgreens in the shopping center across the way closed just four days ago on Monday, but the owner has lost no time taking the name down.   It was there where the green truck is parked.  The white part of the strip is the Giant.

I'm going to miss that pharmacy!  it was very convenient and now I have to travel much further to pick up meds I am not comfortable getting through Express Scripts.

And speaking of pharmaceuticals, apparently after taking K2 for months [after reading about the benefits], I have developed an allergic reaction to it.  I have broken out in a red itchy rash, probably because I also take [doctor ordered] D3 as well.  Interestingly, my GP and all those specialists that I have been to see all knew I was taking the combination, but it was Dr Google who alerted me that this could be the reason I have suddenly started breaking out in the past week.

And so I am extra glad to be working from home today.  After two days straight of dragging my carcass into the office and just sitting at my workstation, it is a welcome break to be homre.

Triscuit, of course, is just wild with excitement to have me here.  She contains her exuberance very well, don't you think?

Let the final weekend of February begin!
