Quote of the day:
"I think in terms of the day's resolutions, not the year's."
~ Henry Moore, an English artist
The past couple of years, we were able to have the day off after Christmas and New Year's Day, as they were on the weekend, but that won't happen again until 2026
The good news is that I am lucky enough to work from home today. The bad news? EOM/EOQ/EOY reconciliations and reports. Some schools are closed today, which makes it tough for the parents, and others opened. Certainly casts a pall on New Year Day celebrations when you know that alarm will go off the next morning, neh?
When do you take down Christmas decorations? We always did it the weekend after New Year's, taking advantage of Christmastide, which extends to Epiphany, because it is just too much of a holiday to cram into one day. Of course, that's a lot easier to do when you have an artificial VS a live tree in your living space. I stop play Christmas carols on New Year's Day though. Time to find homes for all the things that are under the tree!
Keeping the joy of Christmas holiday with us is a definitely a challenge. Maybe that is a good resolve just for today, at least?
