Quote of the day:
"The reward for work well done is the opportunity to do more."
~ Jonas Salk, American virologist and medical researcher who developed one of the first successful polio vaccines

Seems like an odd quote for the first day of the weekend, doesn't it?  Especially since I consider the reward for work well done is the ability to have leisure time with which I can do what I want [health and monetary considerations permitting, that is].  It also sounds more than a little cynical - do something well and get it in on time and you get more to do.  Yay?

Today is the kind of day that gives meteorologists headaches and bad dreams.  After telling us all week that the weekend was going to be wet because of a nor'easter, Saturday has been a very nice day overall.  I even sat out on my balcony for a bit when the sun was bright - that air was cool but the sun was warm enough to offset it.

I like sitting on the balcony and just watching life and the clouds sail by

They don't usually work on the weekends, but there was definitely something going on this morning about the work being done in garage #4, which is underneath the parking lot I was giving construction updates on earlier this year.

Occasionally the sun goes in, but it definitely does not seem to be any danger of the continuous rain the forecasts were calling for!  It is rather windy, and this view EastSouthEast shows the the clouds scuttling across the sky over Building C of the complex

Turns out those who have tickets for this last weekend of the Maryland Renaissance Festival will have a good days after all, neh?

Looking EastNorthEast, you can see that the trees are finally starting to change colors.  The process seems to be very slow this year, probably because unseasonably warm temperatures have been lingering hereabouts, and most trees, as you can see, are still green, albeit looking a bit faded.  Because we also have drought conditions, some of the leaves are just going straight to brown.

When I went down to get the mail, I peeked out west through the windows next to the elevators.  It is a very narrow shot between the balconies of the building spur that parallels Route 29 [the buildings are roughly Y shaped] and the side of the elevator housing, and that brown line on the left is the edge of the concrete.

The trees that are turning seem to be grouped, don't they?  It always surprises me, given how crowded this area is, that from the 20th floor, it doesn't look more urban!

May your weekend be full of things you like and want to do!
