I object to categorizing the struggle by individuals
against cancer as 'a battle'. That implies two things: [1] there has to be a winner, and therefore a loser; and [2] therefor, if you chose at some point quality of life over quantity life, you are somehow disappointing everyone. The medical profession can declare war, marshal their resources and work on eradicating the disease; the individual just has very hard decisions to make, and there is no wrong answer.
