Quote of the day:

The community party went well last night.  I  dressed flamboyantly with my red hat to provide me with a conversation starter, and it seemed to work as I met a great many neighbors whose names I will not remember, including a very spry lady of 97 who came over to chat and told me many stories - she got married the month I was born!  The amount of food that was provided was incredible and everything was delicious - I really need to find out who made that bread pudding and went back for a extra helping of that.  Many were sharing drinks, including champagne, but I stuck to my ice wine.  One of the younger residents was leading line dancing, and I tried but quickly became overheated.  The crowd thinned out as the night wore on, but there was a group still there at midnight, and we brought the new year in watching the ball drop in Times Square and singing Auld Lang Syne.  I was not among the helpers, who cleaned up afterwards though, opting to bring myself back upstairs and unwind before bed.

I have officially stopped playing Christmas music until next Thanksgiving.  Today I am going over my daughter's in the afternoon for our traditional New Years Day meal of pork, sauerkraut, mashed potatoes, and baked beans.

And tomorrow it is back to the workaday world and I have to drive into the office.  This coming weekend is for undecorating.

The holidays are officially over, more's the pity!  I hope you enjoyed yours
