Day 170 - day 4 of 4

Today is the 2nd day of the 25th week,  the 19th day of the 6th month, the 170th day of 2023, and:
  • Garfield the Cat Day - amusing us since if was first published on this day back in 1978
  • Juneteenth (( if you haven't already, try googling 'June 19th' and enjoy the show ))
  • International Day for the Elimination of Sexual Violence in Conflict - unfortunately, throughout history, rape has been part of warfare
  • National Eat an Oreo Day
  • National FreeBSD Day
  • National Martini Day
  • National Pets in Film Day
  • National Watch Day
  • New Church Day
  • Ratha Yatra
  • Ride to Work Day
  • Take Your Cat to Work Day
  • World Albatross Day
  • World Sauntering Day
  • World Sickle Cell Day
Quote of the day:
"We can take a wonderful vacation in spirit, even though we are obliged to stay at home, if we will only drop our burdens from our minds for a while."

This is only the third year that Juneteenth has been a federal holiday and not every company has decided to add it to the number of paid holidays.  Fortunately for me, the Federal Reserve does observe all federal holidays and therefore is closed, which means most financial services close as well.

Construction update:

The crew was up and out bright and early this morning, and the jack hammers were fired up before 8:30 AM.  Many of the areas around the previously patched places are now being dug up, and I wonder if that means they found when working underneath that more pipes/structural work was needed?  I haven't been brave enough to venture into the garage to see what they are doing down there.

After the excitement of taking Triscuit to the vet on Friday, it has been a quiet, long weekend for me.  We had planned a Father's Day brunch gathering that got called off due to illness at the last minute [literally, my daughter called me as I was getting ready to walk out the door] - not mine, for a change, and nothing serious - but it has been full, thanks to living my 2nd life online, complete with company

I peeked at the news this morning, and I think I'm going to keep right on wandering in Second Live and Sovaria, or killing demons in Diablo IV.
