Quote of the day:
"My life is but an instant, an hour that passes by."
~ St. Therese of Lisieux
José Jalapeño, one of the first characters created by comedian and ventriloquist Jeff Dunham in 1984, was introduced as part of a one hour special produced by Comedy Central. I remember seeing that special when it aired on TV and I thought the routine was hilarious! José ahs gone on to make many appearances since then
Terry Pratchett's wonderful Discworld universe has a character named Dibbler, who often offers strange things for sale, and on a stick.
Today the management company sent out an email to all residents reminding them they are living in a group setting, and should take a bit of care in the common areas. I was not surprised the manager fussed about the way balconies look as some tenants are using their balconies as I use the Disaster Area, with boxes and stuff piled high. They must never look out their balcony door, and apparently don't realize that altho the balconies are roofed [even on the top floor], they are still open to the weather. The comment about drying laundry made me pout a bit because I have been known to put my drying rack outside on a nice day, but okay. No grilling or torches - common sense. No hammocks - well it would be difficult to secure one unless you bought a stand for it. But I was surprised at the lecture about plants: potted plants cannot exceed more than on foot above the rail, which precludes having window boxes, and no hanging plants. She went on to point out common areas - parking lots, stairwells, breezeways, jogging trails, laundry rooms, courtyard areas, clubrooms, sports courts, sidewalks, water features, bay [?], pools, and lawns have to be kept clear and unobstructed at all times. Kids were asked not to play in the hallways and lobby area, and she also requested no car repairs be done on the property and said there should be no loitering.
Main problem in our particular hallway is the smoke seeping out from under the doors of neighboring apartments - for a non-smoking building, there sure are a lot of people puffing away! I'd like to blame my sniffles and coughing on that, but it is tree pollen season and the windows are cracked open to manage the smoke smell...
