Quote of the day:
"When you try to ignore something or push it away, it actually seems to have a larger and more unrelenting presence. But when you turn toward and pay attention to the discomfort, it loses power over you."
~ Susan Bauer-Wu, “Tuning Into the Body”

What I have found interesting is not that people believe this is going to happen, altho I think the Bible states [Matthew 24:36 and Mark 13:32 according to Google] no one will know the time and date of Christ's return, but in an exercise of extreme hubris, they assume THEY are chosen.  What makes it worse, at the same time, they ask others to care for pets, or take over possessions, which means they also assume those people will not be chosen.  Of course, there are those of us who rather glumly figure if there is a Rapture, we will be the ones left behind.  An honest evaluation of my life and actions convinced me long ago that I had better hope for a merciful rather than just God, because I sure don't want to face my just deserts for eternity.   At least I grew up believing in Purgatory, so I have some hope of not ending up burning for the rest of time....
The commute in this morning was laborious - both dark and rain.  I am starting to wonder if I can actually drive safely in those conditions as with the glare of lights on the blacktop, the lane lines just completely disappear for me.  The commute home was in sunshine, but there was the usual traffic.  Total of over two hours spent on the road.  How odd that I never really resented that until I had the chance during COVID to work from home?
Anyway, I'm grateful to be home and Triscuit seems happy that I am as well.
Just three sleeps and it will be a long holiday weekend!
