trying "normal"

I just don't feel like doing the usual format for this post.  Maybe tomorrow....

Today, for the first time since June 11th, I was back in the office.  Wednesdays are supposed to be the day that everyone comes in, but there always seems to be someone who doesn't make it for some reason whether it is a meeting or car problems or maintenance issues or vacation.

It went okay

Schools are closed now so the commute was commensurately easier - less than an hour each way.

The hardest part was folks wanting to talk to me, or rather trying to get me to talk about the past five weeks.  I really didn't have too much to say, which I know seems odd to those who have been reading along, but it is easier to write than it is to speak.  And there were minor annoyances with which to occupy my mind - a request for information on a foreclosure resurfacing after over a year; bossman unable to figure out why he can't connect to the internet or to the PBS server, a spreadsheet where the formulas had been wiped out.  I was relieved to leave and couldn't get out of there fast enough.  I have tomorrow and Friday off - a relic of the plan when I was going to go to Nashville on Monday June 30th and stay [working remotely] at the hospice with Tommy through his birthday and then come home on the 17th.  I forgot to put on my out-of-office assistant and change my voicemail message though.

Triscuit knocked over my flowers while I was gone even though I thought I put it somewhere safe.  Vase didn't break fortunately, and the water that hadn't evaporated was pretty easy to clean up

Tomorrow I am going over and pick up Kit as she is finally actually coming over to check out the new apartment.  On the way we have to stop at the audiologist and she has a couple other things that she wants me to do, then she is going to stay overnight and I will take her home on Friday.  My plan is to drop her off around noon or so in order to get away from DC long before rush hour, but we'll see how that works out.

Haven't changed my Facebook profile pic since the 2024 election. Have to say it fits my mood.   And it has been raining a lot.....

Anyway, here's to hump day and trying to act "normal"!
