Quote of the day:
"Civilization began the first time an angry person cast a word instead of a rock."
~ Sigmund Freud
Except far too often, violent and angry rhetoric incites others to pick up the rocks or flag poles or guns and do the harm the speaker intends.
Yes I have been reading the news - and between the GOP vision of what America should look like if they win in 2024 and SCOTUS taking up yet another case with a made-up plaintiff, I have had to turn away from it again today.
When I work from home, I often order from Starbucks via Uber Eats. Because they bring the food up the elevator and to my door, I tend to tip rather generously. Now and then I get this same driver - a sweet girl [well she looks young to me!] with a lovely accent and a cheerful smile.
For the second time, when she saw my name, she nipped into the Trader Joes that is next door to the Starbucks, and brought me flowers - just to see the surprised smile on my face. All that she asked in the midst of my profuse thanks, was that I pray for her.....
What a lovely way to perk up my morning, reminding me that there is still kindness in the world, thus removing the bitter aftertaste of the news!
