Quote of the day:
"Why is there an end of the year? Because the calendar imposes numerical order on time. There is a natural fitness in the celebration of the New Year, a holiday of numbers imposed on things, with lists, as well as with Advent calendars and songs like 'The Twelve Days of Christmas.' "
~  Elif Batuman, American author, academic, and journalist

Today I was in the cloud for most of the morning.  Literally -  as this #viewfromthebalcony shows, I couldn't even see the parking lot until around 11Am and the fog didn't break up completely until after noon

Of course I was also in world this morning, working on bringing meteorological winter to Nowhereville, so you could argue that I was in the cloud both literally and figuratively [as in online

It was a busy day of chores:  laundry [folding put off until tomorrow], picking up packages at the management office, getting the boxes out of the Disaster area [broken down and taken out to the recycling dumpster], and just generally piddling about the place.

My daughter asked me if I wanted to join them to decorate their tree tomorrow, but I have a food delivery already scheduled that cannot be changed.  If they come early enough, I might make it over, but the possibility is slim.

I'll probably put up some decorations in the apartment next week after my vacation starts on Thursday.  Maybe...  altho I have been pretty good about doing it since Gem bought that little craft show Christmas tree for me in 2012, extracting the promise that I would start decorating for Christmas again.  I hadn't since 2004; just didn't have the heart after Frank died [besides, no one but me sees it - except for the wreath on the door].

This year I'm really not much in the spirt, despite trying to play Christmas carols, decorate my home in world, do the daily Advent calendar, and get the Christmas shopping done [wrapping will also be over the vacation period].

I take vacation around now, and always try to do something around mid-December to distract myself from the 16th, altho the timing is awkward this year.  Before COVID, I alternated between going to WDW and visiting my friends in Las Cruses.  Last year, my son could come home.  This year will be the first time on a plane since 2019 and will be a trip to Nashville with my daughter to spend a couple of days visiting my son, who cannot travel due to the chemo treatments.

Perhaps I need more pine scented potpourri about the place?

Oh, and the fog came back after  the sun went down....
