Day 311 - day 2 of a very short work week
Today is the 3rd day of the 45th week, the 7th day of the 11th month, the 311th day of 2023, and:
- Election Day - remember to check your voter registration status before heading to the polls, too many states have indulged in purges and many voters have had issues. Also, remember it isn't only presidential elections that are important, and power starts in the counties and states
- Employee Brotherhood Day [another SpongeBob Squarepants holiday]
- Hug a Bear Day - I advise extreme caution with this. Maybe stick to your teddy bear?
- International Day of Medical Physics
- International Inuit Day
- International Merlot Day
- Little League Girls Day
- National Bittersweet Chocolate with Almonds Day
- National Canine Lymphoma Awareness Day
- Notary Public Day
- Retinol Day
- Skeptics Day International
- and Voyager 1 is 22h 29m 37s of light travel time from Earth
Quote of the day:
"Bad officials are the ones elected by good citizens who do not vote."
"Bad officials are the ones elected by good citizens who do not vote."
~ George Jean Nathan, American drama critic and magazine editor
Nothing going on in my state today, but if you are wondering where elections are being held, and for what, I suggest checking out Ballotpedia. Just remember, no matter where you fall on the political spectrum, if you don't want to find yourself wondering where all these crazies [whatever your definition of that term is] have come from, their supporters are out there voting them in.
And yes, your vote counts. They wouldn't be purging voter registration rolls and gerrymandering if it didn't, so don't let anyone discourage you from having your say!
The right has done far more in the way of politicizing the local elections, especially school boards,
Today has been yet another "Monday" as there are continuing knotty issues with reconcilements and financial statements [oh, I have another question about....], and credit unions not wanting to use our secure file sharing site [or getting confused as to why they got two payments in September and none in October], legal expenses being billed without noting which deal it's for, and more questions from the SOC examiners, and and and ....
My cleaning lady [yes I'd rather pay someone to do the housework than do it myself, as long as I can afford to do so] was here and the place looks and feels great.
Tomorrow is the last day in the work week for me. And altho I have to go into the office, I already know that bossman will not be there.
And fortunately looking at the news is optional, and I very much choose not to do so
