Quote of the day:
"Fatigue makes fools of us all. It robs you of your skills and your judgment, and it blinds you to creative solutions."
~ Harvey Mackay, American businessman, author, and syndicated columnist
Early Sunday morning, we once again engaged in the annual ritual of returning from Daylight Savings Time to Standard Time. Despite the number of timepieces that are online and perform this maneuver automatically, there are still many devices that have to be corrected manually - microwaves, ovens, cars, watches, regular clocks, et al. And despite what seems to be a consensus amongst us all that we need to stop doing this, DST continues to be a thing that just will not go away.
I am old enough to remember when both times were half a year, but slowly DST was expanded so that now it takes up 8 months of the year, leaving us on standard time for only four months during the winter time. I'm not going to rehash the reasoning for the creation of DST, nor debate the actual use of it. I just want us to pick a time and agree to STAY on it. I would prefer to stay on standard time, which is better tuned to our circadian rhythms, but if the decision is to shift our time zones to equal that of the Mid-Atlantic for the East Coast, where I live, so be it. Just stop making me change twice a year!
Don't know where that extra hour of sleep went yesterday, certainly those of us with pets or babies didn't get any because neither of them are fed by what time it is.
Supposedly "falling back" is less stressful that "springing forward", but the first workday after the clock change just seems to drag past as you feel that you are working later than usual. And the sun still wasn't up when I had to get up, altho the sky was definitely brighter.
ah well - only five more Mondays to go this year since I have vacation for one and Christmas is another.
