Day 248 - the Monday that is actually a Tuesday
Today is the 3rd day of the 36th week, the 5th day of the 9th month, the 248th day of 2023, and:
- Another Look Unlimited Day - decluttering is hard for some of us.... Could I live without all the chatkes? Of course I could! But they all have meaning, at least to me. During the fire scare of a couple weeks ago, my second thought of what to grab [once I gave up getting Triscuit from underneath the bed] were the pictures, not to mention my aunt's and mother's scrap books. Some day, I fear, many of what I have saved will be thrown away, but today is not that day.
- International Day of Charity
- Jury Rights Day
- National Be Late for Something Day
- National Cheese Pizza Day
- National Shrink Day
- Telephone Tuesday
- World Samosa Day
Quote of the day:
" If you cannot get rid of the family skeleton, you may as well make it dance. "
" If you cannot get rid of the family skeleton, you may as well make it dance. "
~ George Bernard Shaw
Yesterday just ... evaporated. I spent the day re-reading the Mists of Avalon for the most part. Oh, I managed to complete a few chores, like putting away all the white shoes and pants. Yes I know that the fashion police no longer enforce the old rules, but I just do not feel right when I try to infringe as this was a huge deal with my mother. I also folded laundry. And I cleaned out the freezer, checking everything and then putting it back - to no avail, I might add as the horrible stink is still there. I put in a maintenance ticket about checking the rear of the fridge and the drip pan as I cannot move the appliance at all. [With my luck, they'll show up tomorrow or Thursday while I am in the office.]
Sprawled on the sofa, petting Triscuit, and reading was actually a pretty good way to spend Labor Day in the midst of this heat. But I resent not feeling well enough, feeling too weak and too short winded to join the family on such expeditions as to the Land of Little Horses!
There hasn't been any activity to show, so there hasn't been a new construction update for some time. The work is obviously continuing in the garage as it is still cordoned off - I can only imagine the stifling heat down there with only fans to try and manage it. Don't know how they got permission to park their dumpster and truck where it is now as I think that is the county road easement, but there certainly isn't going to be much in the way of grass left when they finally leave. And I have no idea whether or not the lot will actually be paved over when the underground work is completed - I can totally understand not adding the stink while men are working below!
As for work? it was a long day, full of this and that and EOM reports. Fortunately the A/C is working at the moment in everyone's home, cars, and in the office, but this HHH weather after the gorgeous taste of the change of season last week is rough on everyone
Amazon sent an email confirming that all subscriptions other than those thru the paid Kindle Unlimited have now been terminated
On the whole? Triscuit was totally unimpressed with this Monday masquerading as a Tuesday
