I woke up to the news that the musical mayor of Margaritaville was gone, and I found tears in my eyes.  Oh he wasn't the wastrel his carefully cultivated image portrayed, but somewhere back in the wilds of my memories of youth always lurked the dream of just hanging out by the beach, wearing flip flops all the time, singing, writing, and doing odd jobs for the tourists.  I know that was his persona, a laid back style they called "gulf western" that always sounded Caribbean to me

Today I had planned to do laundry, but remember that skanky smell I mentioned yesterday?  It seemed stronger this morning so I dismembered the fridge - took everything apart and out that I could, cleaned it thoroughly, gave everything in it the sniff or expiration date test and pitched some things.  When I was finished I was hot, tired and grumpy because the smell persisted.  Now I am beginning to wonder about the kitchen downstairs, you know, the one where the fire was?  I wonder if anyone has been in that kitchen for the past month, and if the refrigerator is now a science experiment, and I'm getting the odorous results?

Still in a rather nostalgic mood, I found myself watching The Titanic again.  No idea what that has to do with Jimmy Buffet as there is no island involved  [ maybe Jack was a similar fellow? ], but that is what I wanted to see.  Then for some reason I hunted down Camelot and watched that, singing along with the music,  and reflecting that everyone who starred in the film is probably either dead or retired by now.  

Triscuit very sensibly enjoyed her Caturday rest and relaxation, and I hope you did as well

day 65 - Panda

Today is the 2nd day of the 10th week, the 6th day of the 3rd month, the 65th day of 2023 Last year it was a Sunday, and it was miserable.  My poor little Panda had been very ill - problems with eating and eliminating had resulted in her losing over half her weight in just three months.   I kept taking her back and we kept trying different things - even putting her thru the RadioCat operation he previous month so that she could go off the y/d diet.   Nothing seemed to help, and Panda had gotten what the vet called a "kitty cocktail" shot on Friday afternoon, a Hail Mary  concoction of antibiotics [in case there is an intestinal infection], steroids [in case of inflammation], hydration, soothers, and an appetite stimulant.    She was okay on Saturday, enjoyed her sunbeam and even ate a bit - but that night the drugs wore off and we had a very bad night indeed as she was obviously in pain, and kept retreating to her hidey hole under the secretary....
