Construction update:
As you can see, the designated parking area was NOT cleared out by 7 AM this morning as this picture was taken at 7:15AM, just before I walked out the door. There is, however, a security vehicle there preventing anyone else from parking in empty spots.

I'm still not sure where they expect all those cars to go, unless they are assuming they will be leaving for work? The completed area was given parking space lines yesterday, but access to it is still quite clearly blocked, so I am worried my spot in the garage will be taken when I get back tonight.
Today is one of those day when I truly do question the value of coming into the office. There are three of us today - myself, bossman, and a lender. The two gents are sitting in their offices [sometimes closing their doors for additional privacy during phone calls], after saying good morning to me, and I in my cubicle with my music playing. The lights are on, the file room is open, and there is absolutely nothing going on that couldn't be happening more comfortably in our own homes. How this is strengthening company culture and proving our ongoing commitment to the company success eludes me.
It was a pretty sunrise this morning, but I allowed my mood to sour myself and those around me when the Starbucks was unusually slow providing the drinks I had ordered online and was picking up while folks who just ordered something were walking out. I castigated myself for being impatient and was headed for a downward spiral that I had to talk myself out of by deciding my tail of three was complete for the day
The quote today resonated with me because it dovetails with my oft repeated statement that the opposite of love is not hate, but indifference. Apparently that is a revelation that many people have had and shared, but actually feeling it was a real accomplishment in letting go. It ties in with what I read about the performance displayed on the broadcast of s "town meeting" Wednesday evening, and the whole gloating "owning the libs" vibe that seems so prevalent in social media - the content is designed to get a visceral response rather than to actually convey information.
I guess the moral of the story is it doesn't make a difference whether it is an ex, slow service person, or a mouthy politician, if you let them get your goat, they win because they now have power over you.
Unfortunately, like so many tidbits of handy-dandy folk wisdom, this is easier said than done.
