Quote of the day:
"Glory is fleeting, but obscurity is forever"
~ Napoleon Bonaparte

I think I am reaching a saturation level with the news - there is a reason, after all, that it is called "doom scrolling", neh?  The never ending cacophony of warfare, mass shootings, partisan posturing, unfettered capitalism, legal shenanigans , economic worries, and climate disasters has caused me to become numb, to even look at horrible pictures of death and destruction with detached interest and remote concern.

That can't be right

And yet, I simply cannot sustain a high level of moral outrage and indignation at the wrongness of it all without draining my already imperiled energy level even further.

How can I stay informed while not being overwhelmed by the sheer volume and intensity of the happenings of the day?  I've eschewed watching the news almost completely.  I try not to read every headline, every story, but I have been reading a lot of blogs and newsletters that synthesize and summarize the news, purposely garnering various disparate viewpoints. And yet?  these days I am still finding the tsunami of  chaos to be overwhelming.

I'm thinking some willful blindness and obscurity is beginning to sound like a viable survival strategy.
