Quote of the day
"I don't really enjoy finance and accounting."
~ Holly Branson, Chief Purpose and Vision Officer on the Virgin leadership team

2022 is proving to be a tough year to move on from - the auditors continue to deluge us with questions, requests for more information, insurance updates, and balance confirmations.   In addition, the first quarter of 2023 still has a couple of reports that haven't been completed yet.  Nevertheless, we have plunged into a new month, and a new round of stuff that needs to be done as soon as possible, and didjadoes from bossman that require replies.

The workmen were out first thing this morning, using high pressure sprays to clear off more areas of the parking lot before they limbered up the jack hammers

In what may or may not be related to the construction, the building's water went out at 11AM for several hours - we received an announcement that PEPCO was on the property working on a power issue.  At 6 PM the management office closed with no update on when we would have water again.  And apparently there is no more call center service where we can call after hours to get updates - the only option is to leave a message that will be "returned during regular business hours" or if it is an emergency, leave a message that will generate a call back from the on-duty maintenance man.   Fortunately the water came back on around 7:30 PM.  Water pressure is a bit low, but at least the toilets flush now

And then, what is more alarming to me since I am on the 20th floor, around 3:30 PM I discovered the elevators were not functioning either, and they didn't come back for three hours.  This is the second time in a month the elevators have completely failed, and I don't understand it because in the past, the property had an emergency system that always kept at least one of the four elevators working, albeit rather slowly.  Add to that the fire alarm going off for about 20 minutes, and my afternoon has not been exactly restful

I have no idea how all the kids returning from school got to their apartments.  At least I kept power, and we really didn't need the heat on, so things really could've been much worse.  But the meal delivery I had was left sitting on the floor of the package room [in a completely different building] for hours - I was finally able to walk over and get my box around 7 PM.  Everything was still cold, so I lucked out that it wasn't as hot this week.

Mondays.  EOM.

*sigh*
