Day 98 - a lazy Caturday

 Today is the 7th day of the 14th week, the 8th day of the 4th month, the 98th day of 2023 [with only 260 shopping days until Christmas], and:

  • International Romani Day - I actually didn't realize that part of the reason the Roma [AKA Gypsies] have been so maligned is that they are an Indo-Aryan ethnic group that are believed to have originated in India and dispersed about 1,000 years ago when their homeland was conquered.  I figured it was prejudice against the nomadic lifestyle, and equated them with the Amish in their ability to keep an separate identity as a people - I didn't realize there actually was a racial component as well.

Yesterday's exertions tired both Triscuit and I out.  

Today I have nothing more strenuously planned than fixing bacon and eggs for breakfast and assembling my granddaughter's Easter baskets for tomorrow.  I don't do candy [they get plenty of that from their parents and others], but usually get them a cute bag, sometimes specialized keepsakes, filled with a dress they can wear to school, and some little toys or a book.



The construction team left the new holes carefully covered in anticipation of the forecast rain yesterday, and worked inside.  Very sensibly, the holes remain covered this weekend, to keep curious folks from venturing into the site to peer down as much as to protect against the weather, I suspect.  



It is a source of never-ending amazement to me that if I let it, reading emails, keeping up with blogs [or writing in one] and social media, and chatting in Discord can take up an entire morning or even day!

day 65 - Panda

Today is the 2nd day of the 10th week, the 6th day of the 3rd month, the 65th day of 2023 Last year it was a Sunday, and it was miserable.  My poor little Panda had been very ill - problems with eating and eliminating had resulted in her losing over half her weight in just three months.   I kept taking her back and we kept trying different things - even putting her thru the RadioCat operation he previous month so that she could go off the y/d diet.   Nothing seemed to help, and Panda had gotten what the vet called a "kitty cocktail" shot on Friday afternoon, a Hail Mary  concoction of antibiotics [in case there is an intestinal infection], steroids [in case of inflammation], hydration, soothers, and an appetite stimulant.    She was okay on Saturday, enjoyed her sunbeam and even ate a bit - but that night the drugs wore off and we had a very bad night indeed as she was obviously in pain, and kept retreating to her hidey hole under the secretary....
