Quote of the day:
"It seemed that one had little control over one’s own destiny. All one could do was to get on with the one job that nobody else could do, the job of being oneself."
~ Monica Dickens, Mariana

Imagine being a writer with the same last name as someone that everyone has heard about.  Not only that, but being a direct descendent -  no pressure, neh?  Monica is Charles' great granddaughter, and altho I had never heard of her before, apparently she was a very prolific authoress.

Day one of vacation:

~ Slept in until 7 AM!  I enjoyed cancelling my alarm for every day next week far more than I should've.

~ Answered a couple work questions by text, then logged into my work email - there was some miscommunications between my direct report and I over what needed to be done today.  Her comment at the end of the day on how it went?  She logged out a half hour late, had to call tech support, will be sending out reports first thing Monday morning, and is glad I am only going to be away for a week.  She had scheduled her month in India over the second quarter end, and has now promised she will never do that again - I was even there for the bulk of the EOQ processing, just leaving all the reporting to her and she is struggling to get those out and do her other work....

~ Took Triscuit to the vet - that took most of the afternoon between getting ready to go, plus driving there and back,  As most rescue cats are, she is terrified of being put in a carrier and taken somewhere, and the hardest part of the trip was getting her into the carrier.  Triscuit had actually been in two shelters - the first one was a kill shelter and I adopted her from the second - and there is a discrepancy in the input forms about her age.  One lists her "birthday" as 03.13.2013 and the second as 03.13.2015, and I asked the vet which one was correct.  She said with rescue cats it was very difficult to tell, but for treatment purposes, she agreed with me that using the older age was wise.

~ Walked over to the management office to pick up a package, then went downstairs to the little convenience store to pick up milk

And just like that the day has slipped away, and the weekend is here!
