Day 101
Today is the 3rd day of the 15th week, the 11th day of the 4th month, the 101st day of 2023, and:
- Barbershop Quartet Day
- Identity Management Day
- International Be Kind to Lawyers Day ((why?))
- International Louie Louie Day
- National Cheese Fondue Day
- National Clean Up Your Pantry Day
- National Eight-Track Tape Day
- National Library Workers Day
- National Pet Day
- National Poutine Day [Canada]
- National Ranch Water Day
- National Teach Children to Save Day - this actually used to be quite a big deal with the community banks. We used to make arrangements with the teachers and do lesson plans for the kids showing how to open savings accounts, and why it was a good idea to do it. The last time I presented to a kindergarten class, and some kids actually opened accounts there and then. I had one of our tellers with me and she solemnly processed the account opening [obviously parents had filled out forms ahead of time] and gave the kids their passbooks. Yes, it was long enough ago that you still could get a physical savings account passbook. The other kids took home those quarter savers so they could start accumulating funds. And we gave out all kinds of little tchotchkes, all with the bank's name on them of course.
- Submarine Day
- World Parkinson's Disease Day
Quote of the day:
Ellen Glasgow wrote a great deal about the decay of the Southern aristocracy, using both wit and irony in her three most successful novels, and wrote extensively about the racial disparities forced on blacks in the south. She won the Pulitzer Prize for the Novel in 1942.
Today is the third day of my PTO and sadly comes the realization that vacation is half over. Not a peep from work since Friday. As planned, other than doing laundry and planning to run errands today, there is no push to be productive or get things done. I continue to enjoy not having to get up when that alarm goes off at 6 AM or 5:30 AM! Sleeping in these days means I am getting up around 7 AM, but for some reason, I haven't been able to convince my body to stay up later than usual! Not that I have tried that hard to do so - doesn't seem worth it to totally change my sleep patterns when next week I have to go back.
Let's not think about going back just yet....
