Quote of the day:
So many books, so little time.”
~ Frank Zappa: Motivational Notebook

Today I learned a new word:  tsundoku .  It is a Japanese term that is actually a combination of two other terms that translate to:  buying books, stacking them up, and never reading them.  It is important to differentiate this from hoarding or bibliomania as I want to read everything I have bought.

I can honestly say the books on my shelves have been read, and after three very painful downsizing, most of them are still with me so that I can reread them at will

There has been much written about the habit of buying books even though you have unread books already.  Granted, one is limited by the constraint of the number of bookshelves you posses, but currently I am testing the memory capacity of my Kindle as well as my phone [due to the reading app] as I cheerfully buy new books that take my fancy.  Good to know that in Japan at least, there is no stigma to doing this, indeed, they look on it as an enrichment of life as it reminds us of how much more of the world there is to discover., unlike hereabouts where it is described as a "syndrome"

As for it being the first day of spring?  I don't feel like we actually had winter hereabouts - certainly I have had to deal with the pollen allergies without respite this year.
